OBAMA REALITY CHECK … Is Obama A Tin-Horn Dictator?

Do you remember these Obama campaign promises:

“My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government” — Barack Obama, January 28, 2009

Promising “a new era of openness in our country,” President Obama [said]: “Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency” — CNN, January 21, 2009

“A democracy requires accountability, and accountability requires transparency. As Justice Louis Brandeis wrote, ‘sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants.’ In our democracy, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), which encourages accountability through transparency, is the most prominent expression of a profound national commitment to ensuring an open Government. At the heart of that commitment is the idea that accountability is in the interest of the Government and the citizenry alike. . . .

All agencies should adopt a presumption in favor of disclosure, in order to renew their commitment to the principles embodied in FOIA, and to usher in a new era of open Government” — Barack Obama, January 21, 2009

How does Obama square his “new era of open government” with left-wing liberal’s  refusal to investigate Acorn’s rampant corruption, intimidation techniques and voter fraud ?

Why would the Congress use the cover of Michael Jackson’s spectacle of a funeral to slip through Cap & Trade is “open government” is now they name of the game?

Why is Obama so very anxious to pass a healthcare bill he hasn’t even read?

Obama was asked in a press conference about Section 102 of the Health Care Reform Bill and he could not answer  … stating he was unfamiliar with that section.   That is simply amazing to me since Obama has promised us that if we have andwant to keep our private insurance  we can … and Section 102 deals precisely with that issue.

While Section 102 does not “outlaw” private health insurance as some have claimed, it does regulate it out of existance:

Secton 102.a does allow individual plans to be grandfathered in so long as they do not ever change their benefits, cost shares, terms & conditions (except as required by law), or enroll any new people except dependants after the date this plan goes into effect. But how realistic is that? How long can the plan remain competitve without enrolling new members or changing something? This means that they can’t reduce the cost shares the enrollee has to pay without it being “required by law” or they lose their grandfathered status, right? They can’t increase their benefits without it being “required by law” to better serve their enrollees without losing their grandfathered status. Yes, this will prevent them from reducing benefits and cost shares, but it also prevents the reverse.

Section 102.c states that any individual plan that is not grandfathered (meaning static and not allowed to change to reflect new technologies and procedures that are not “required by law”) “may only be offered as an Exchange-participating health benefits plan.”

And what about all these Czars?  How do they fit into Obama’s  “open and transparent government?”  By most counts, Obama currently has nearly three dozen czars in his administration, managing everything from closing the Guantanamo Bay detention facility to ending the genocide in Darfur.  It is interesting to me that both Republicans and Democrats seem to have a problem with this Czarist system:

“The accumulation of power by White House staff can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances,” Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W. Va., wrote in a letter to Obama.

Rep. Jack Kington, R-Ga., promised legislation to address what he’s call a “parallel government” that he says diminishes the Senate advice and consent role.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, expressed concern that the president may be breaking his promise of transparency stating that by “creating these czars that are insulated from accountability, whose work is not transparent, he’s moving in exactly the opposite direction.”

How about this little tidbit?  According to the watchdog organization overseeing the federal government’s financial bailout program, the full tab for bailouts and stimulus since 2007 amounts to a whopping $23.7 trillion dollars.  Thats about $80,000 for every American citizen.

According to the Associated Press, that $23.7 trillion figure is comprised of  “about 50 initiatives and programs set up by both the Bush and Obama administrations as well as by the Federal Reserve.”

In testimony delivered to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Neil Barofsky, the inspector general for the TARP, will tell Congress that “the Treasury Department has repeatedly failed to adopt recommendations aimed at making the TARP program more accountable and transparent.”  According to Barofsky, taxpayers are in the dark as to who has received the money and what they are doing with it.

Oh yeah … I remember now … they are buying pork!   It seems that the Department of Agriculture has awarded a contract worth $1,191,200 for 2 lbs of “Frozen Ham, Sliced”.

So … I wonder  … where is all this “sunshine” and transparent government you promised your voters Mr. Obama?  Or … was it all exactly what I believed it to be …  a big, fat charismatic lie?

Hey… does it bother anyone else that Obama now controls OnStar?

Oh wait …. I know …   it is all Bush’s fault we now have a left-wing shadow government and at its head … a tin-horn dictator.

Have you sent a tea bag to your representatives yet?  I was watching Fox News coverage of the Tea Parties across America and was thrilled.  It is about time conservative Americans got angry and spoke out.  It is time to “Draw A Line In The Sand!”

We simply cannot borrow our way out of debt!  Nor can we spend our way to economic security!  How many households or businesses would survive on that model?  Our government is gleefully mortgaging the future of our great, great grandchildren and busily saddling them with a debt they can never hope to pay.  The government is simply put … out of control!

And we … my fellow Americans … have lost sight of the fact that they work for US!   We actually are the WE THE PEOPLE!

This is not a Republican issue!  This is not a Democratic issue!   This is a “we want America back” issue.  I am sorry but this country was not founded by socialists, communists, left-wing radicals, or liberal egalitarians.  It was founded by individualists who believed in and fought for the individual’s right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

A few other observations and pet peeves:

Obama Lies, America Cries

The simple truth is that  Obama’s  presidency, while still in its infancy, has already failed in keeping its campaign promises.  I seem to remember Obama’s eloquent campaign speeches in which he stated clearly that there would be no pork in his adminstration and that he would go through each bill “line by line” if needed to cut wasteful spending …. but surprise … surprise;   he supported and helped push through the largest single piece of pork legislation in the nation’s history … one not so cleverly disguised as a “stimulus” bill.

I have read that  Obama has already committed to spend more tax dollars than all the Presidents from George Washington to George W put together.   But … surely the new liberal democratic leadership should have known that  … if only they had they had time to read the legislation they so swiftly passed … or maybe they just don’t care!

Second Amendment Supporter?

For a president who respects Second Amendment rights, Obama has a strange way of showing it.  After pledging support for the Second Amendment during his campaign, Obama quickly appoints fanatical gun-ban supporter Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff.  Next, he selects former Clintonite and rabid anti-gunner Eric Holder as his attorney general.

And … we all know where his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, stands.  She should fit in well with the members of the U.N. working hard to take away American’s Second Amendment rights.

Obama-Speak For Terrorism?

What the heck is this liberal crap?  A terrorist act is no-longer a terrorist act.  It is now a man-caused disaster?  While President Obama makes speeches that compare bankers to suicide bombers, his new Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano, claims that the T-word, terrorism, is just too inflammatory and representative of the old-fashioned “politics of fear.”   She prefers a new term: “man-caused disaster.”    I’m sorry!  But … I have to ask … what if the suicide bomber is a female?  Isn’t it sexist to use “man-caused disaster”?

Oh Yeah … and …. the war on terror is now an “overseas contingency operation.”   Sounds like a load of Bravo Sierra to me!!

In addition, according to the recently released report by her Department of Homeland Security, Ms. Napolitano is very concerned about the vast right wing conspiracy to overturn her Messiah’s new govenment of Hope and Change.  You know the one  made up of:  (a) law-abiding American gun owners,  (b) any American veterans returning from the War on Terror (ooops … overseas contingency operation …. my bad), (c) anyone who thinks the Founding Fathers had the right idea, and  (d) everyone and anyone who did not vote for Barack Obama in the last election.

God Bless Australia Again

Wow!   Is there an American version of Australia’s Prime Minister John Howard hiding in the background somewhere?  Please step up!

Prime Minister Howard says “IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.”  He is sick and tired of his country worrying about whether they are offending some individual or their culture … especially when that culture harbors and supports terrorists and pirates.   According to John Howard, fundamentalist Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law should simply leave Australia and move to an Islamic state;  or … if they want to stay and live in Australia … they must do so under Australian law.  Wow!   What a concept!

I like it!

Bigger Government?

I found this post on a Fox News web forum highlighting viewers’ responses to the GOP debate hosted by Fox News. It caught my eye because of the comments on big government. This viewer is from Sweden and historically Sweden has been a big government/socialist country. While I was out in Aspen, Colorado attending an ESI training session about 7 years ago, I got the chance to meet a young man, also from Sweden, who made some very similar comments. However, for some reason, many of our left-wing liberal democrats like to point to Sweden as a shining example of where we should be headed as a country.

Ulrika Says:

January 8th, 2008 at 2:32 pm

I have lived in this country for the past 17 years and I am honored to be a citizen and the spouse of a military officer. I grew up in the beautiful country of Sweden and moved here as a young adult. I know big government! I know the inefficiencies of government run health care. I know the paralyzing effects high taxes have on a people. I know what a lack of respect for life and the sanctity of marriage have on society. I could go on an on.

On so many issues the democrats could not be further from what I believe is right, true and good for America. To all republicans and conservative independents, I would like to say; Please vote for the candidate that you think will have the best chance of beating the Democratic nominee. The polls are clear. Mitt Romney is the one most people believe can beat the Democratic nominee: whoever that may be. Take the time and watch the debates and various appearances and you’ll see a well-composed, intelligent, articulate leader ready to take over in the White House.

I wish she would go on and on.

I am not sure I agree with her endorsement of Mitt Romney as the only viable republican candidate, but her comments speak volumes about big government and tax and spend politics. I hope the Republican Party can rediscover its small government, conservative spending roots. It certainly needs to convince the voters in this country it has … if it hopes to gain a victory in the 2008 election.

I find it curious that the same people, who cried so loudly about FEMA’s inept handling and wasteful spending during the Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans, want to give that same government more responsibility and money … meaning more wasteful bureaucracy.

It currently takes 5 to 6 months of red tape for a doctor to be paid by medicare. If government run healthcare is so good, why do people who have money in countries that have government run healthcare come to the U.S. for treatment of anything serious?

Why would we want to give a government that builds bridges to nowhere and grants $400,000 for a Teapot Museum in Sparta, North Carolina more of our tax dollars? Pork Barrel projects in 2006 totaled $29 billions dollars. Hillary Clinton’s recent support of the “Woodstock Museum” comes to mind.

My tax dollars should be better spent … before they come asking me for more!

As an interesting side note: Sweden’s new prime minister’s party won because of, among other things, pledged tax cuts.
